What is next in skincare? Wild and Foraged Skincare!

nettle oil, stinging nettle oil, nettle and argan oil, nettle skin oil, nettle hair oil, foraged nettle oil.

Look out for wild and foraged skincare coming your way soon in a big way! My family and I have been a fan of foraged foods for a long time, for a number of reasons. My 9 year old daughter often has stinging nettle and blackberry green smoothies, and my 25 year old daughter sips stinging nettle and dandelion tea.

Wild Skincare is on its way and its going to be big. What is this I hear you ask and why is it better for me than conventional skincare?

Well... Wild plants are much more resilient because they have had to adapt to their growing conditions, with roots often stronger and deeper into the richer soil, unlike farmed ingredients, which makes them much more nutrient-dense and therefore more potent and effective.

Wild is the new 'clean’ beauty, using the much more potent foraged, wild plants that have come from un-farmed land, with all the benefits, nutrients of uncultivated, fertile soil.

It’s about time skincare went eco isn’t it? Not only is our carbon footprint zero as we walk on our lands to forage wild plants before being formulated, they truly are British made.

Mother nature gives us the answer for pretty much everything, and its high time we worked with her, not against her don't you think? Those annoying weeds are actually full of goodness that not only transforms your health but your skin too!

Here's some reasons to switch to foraged wild skincare...

Let’s start with Nettle oil. Stinging nettle is rich in Magnesium, calcium, chlorophyll, proteins, silica, iron, vitamins A, B,C, (three times more than broccoli) E and K, antioxidants, and many other nutrients, valuable enzymes and minerals, people have been using this for centuries for arthritis, rheumatism, and certain types of osteoporosis.

At Douvall's we use this foraged seasonally highly beneficial wild nettle leaf to make our nettle infused oil, paired with first cold pressed argan oil to make a 100% pure organic power house that can promote healthy hair growth and add shine to your hair. It has long been used for people with hair loss, alopecia, and scalp irritation. Massage a few drops onto hair and scalp daily.

Douvall's nettle and argan oil relieves dry, tense scalps that can contribute to certain types of alopecia (baldness) added with argan oil that fortifies hair. The nettle is packed with sulphur and silica known to add shine, giving you stronger, longer, healthier hair. Nettle oil is also great for hair growth. One of the most important oils for hair loss is nettle oil, just massage scalp daily with the oil.

The Answer to truly sustainable skincare is Foraged skincare.

We all want to be more eco-friendly and do our bit to help our planet. As a company that prides itself on sustainability and giving back we are always looking at ways to improve, that’s why we love foraged skincare and pairing it with our sustainably sourced first cold pressed argan oil from a women’s co-operative seemed the perfect way to not only help you and your skin and hair but the planet!

How do we make it?

Wild foraged skincare is extracted using the infusion method (maceration), a process of triple maceration has been applied here to deliver wildcrafted beauty and pure nettle oil, meaning plant matter (nettle leaves) was replaced three times into the same solvent (Douvall's Organic First Cold Pressed Argan Oil) for the purpose of extracting maximum amount of beneficial properties. The process of cold processed extraction works by molecular diffusion, which is very slow, so it takes a few months to obtain a premium infusion such as Douvall's Argan and Nettle oil.

Other beneficial wild foraged beauty and skincare which is super beneficial for your skin are blackberries, dandelion, chickweed, goose grass, wild garlic, hazelnuts, honeysuckle and many more. Look out for more exciting foraged wild skincare products on our website Douvalls.com.
